I don't have fireflies in my garden - which is a shame... only cats, bees, a dog and the odd dragonfly!! So please settle down with a cuppa, put your feet up and enjoy!

Day 4 / Crazy Start #4: "Autumn Fab Fob"

So here we are again... Day 4 update - still going strong so far!  But as I mentioned yesterday, I am now back at work so this is a sneaky lunchtime post......  hopefully I will be able to continue this daily posting for the next week or so!

I had great plans yesterday to spend all afternoon stitching.... but that didn't work!  I had planned to start stitching on a new Jean Farish Mystery SAL that I came across on FB last week, but when I began to pull my threads for part one... guess what?  I don't have all the threads I need... can you believe it??  (of course you can, it happens all the time, doesn't it?!)

Unfortunately the Mystery SAL will stay a mystery for a bit longer, sorry.....

So after spending a couple of hours playing with threads (no time playing with threads is ever wasted time), I decided to start on Lizzie Kate's "Autumn Fab Fob".  This limited edition chart is the second chart that I received in the giveaway that I mentioned when I started "Eek!".

So without further ado, here is my start for Day 4 - Lizzie Kate's "Autumn Fab Fob"

"Autumn Fab Fob" - Lizzie Kate
I am stitching this on the fabric that came with the kit (28 ct Pumpkin Spice Jazlyn) and using DMC threads.  The ray stitch at the top is not looking good.... I don't have the variegated thread that the chart calls for so I thought I'd try the light yellow and orange tweeded together.... but on reflection I don't think I like it!  So when I pick this up again, I will re-do the rays in some other colour arrangement.

I now have to decide what to stitch tonight when I get home... decisions, decisions!  I am so loving this challenge of new starts every day!

Day 3 / Crazy Start #3: "Prancer"

I have finally taken the plunge and started my very first Nora Corbett design!  I have been drooling over these beautiful designs for ages and have even started a collection of charts.... but for some reason I just haven't got around to stitching one yet.  But that is about to change.... I have 3 lined up for this Crazy January challenge so far and that may extend to 4!

So who wants to see my Day 3 start?

Without further ado, may I present Nora Corbett "Christmas Eve Couriers - Prancer"...

"Christmas Eve Couriers - Prancer" - Nora Corbett
I am stitching this little beauty on another fabric from Stitches and Spice.  This one is Belfast 32 Opal and is called "Arabian Nights".  Don't you just love the name?  You can't see in the photo, but there is a mottling of pink in this pearly fabric which is why I chose it for the "Christmas Eve Courier" designs.  Can't wait to get back to this one really soon!

I am back at work tomorrow.... so having a bit sad face day today!! Which means that I may not be able to post every day during the week... but I will try.  Otherwise it will be a marathon post on Saturday and Sunday as I do intend to continue stitching new starts every evening!

That's it for today.... I am now going to try and figure out what to start today!  I have all afternoon to stitch so with a bit of luck I will get some good progress made on my Day 4 start.

Day 2 / Crazy Start #2: "Eek!"

I'm on a roll!  Two days into the challenge and I have made 2 new starts!! Although I have always found starting easier than finishing!!

Yesterday I posted about my first new start, and today I am here to show you my second new start for January's crazy challenges - the FB CrosstitchCrazy Event and Debbie's Ultimate Crazy January Challenge 2015 (DUCJC2015).

Day 2's start was a Lizzie Kate design that has been sitting in my stash of kits for some time now....

So here it is: "Eek!" by Lizzie Kate (Limited Edition Kit)

"Eek!" - Lizzie Kate
I won this kit from a lady called Carolyn in a Giveaway.  Carolyn's blog doesn't exist any more (actually the name does still exist but there are no posts and someone else has a profile set up!) so I can't link her blog here.... :o(  I won two Lizzie Kate charts in that giveaway, both of which I am starting in this challenge and will then be using as part of my Gifted Gorgeousness 2015 SAL.  I have set up a page listing the charts that I plan to stitch for that SAL - if you wish to have a look the link is here....

Incidentally, you may have noticed that this a Halloween style design.... so I am thinking that I may be able to use this one as a backup design for the Hallowe'en Ornie SAL Blog as September's theme is Spooky Words - it will probably take me that long to finish it!!

That's it for today.... I am off to do a couple of boring things like ironing and washing.... and then hopefully I can make a start on my Day 3 stitching.  I have got either "Comet" and "Prancer" from Nora Corbett lined up to start today....

Til next time, Happy Stitching!

Day 1 / Crazy Start #1: Winter Witch

Happy New Year!

Yesterday was the first day of my Crazy January Challenge!  If you remember I posted a list of new starts relating to a couple of January crazy challenges a few days ago.... if you didn't see that post the link is here.

I listed 20 projects - 15 new starts for the FB CrosstitchCrazy Event and 5 x WIP's that I will also be working on for January.  I still have to come up with some more to complete the 31 projects for Debbie's Ultimate Crazy January Challenge 2015 (DUCJC2015)  but I am reasonably sure that won't be a problem!!

I also signed up for the 15 Miras 15 Days but that one won't be 15 Mira's in 15 days for me that will be closer to 15 Mira's in 2015, if I'm lucky!

Seeing as yesterday was Day 1 of January 2015, I had a new start.....

"Winter Witch" - The Snowflower Diaries
My first new start is "Winter Witch" from The Snowflower Diaries.  This is a freebie chart from Maja and I had planned to stitch this one last year but never got around to it.  For those that might like to know... the fabric is "Hocus Pocus" 32ct Belfast from Stitches and Spice, and I am using only DMC threads rather than any speciality threads as mentioned in the design.

You may remember that I stitched the "Spring Witch" for my Witch design for the Hallowe'en Ornie SAL Blog last year.

And speaking of the Hallowe'en Ornie SAL Blog, this little darling witch is my choice for this year's January theme - Witches!!  I just need to now find the time to finish her before the end of the month.  I wonder.... does a new start become a WIP for the 31 designs?? No, probably not - don't think that double entry stitching would work for this challenge!!

So I am off to a good start so far..... Day 1 - 1 Start!  Can I keep up the pace? You will have to come back tomorrow and see what Day 2 will bring.....

Before I go, can I show you some bling?

Bling from Gina's Fobs and Froggers
Aren't they just gorgeous?  These little beauties (4 x needle minders, scissor fob and stitch counter) are from Gina's Fobs and Froggers.  Gina is on FB and Etsy, so they are very easy to purchase.  I have been stalking Gina's FB page for ages and drooling over her beautiful creations, and finally took the plunge and bought some.   But now I may have to feed my habit regularly - after all they may have magic powers and make my needle go faster and keep the frogs away!!

That's it for today.... I am off to start my Day 2 stitching - will it be a Mira design or a Lizzie Kate design, or something completely different?  Decisions, decisions.....

Til next time, happy stitching
